Sydney, May 17 – The Alan Denham trained Magic Albert filly Petulie gave her rivals a thorough thrashing in the juvenile maiden over 1200 metres at Hawkesbury on Thursday.
Improving on a first up fourth at the same track two weeks ago, Petulie cruised clear to win by four lengths under hands and heels riding from leading apprentice Tye Angland.
Petulie finished second at her first race start in early December when she bumped into Glenarvon Girl, who proved her credentials with a metropolitan win at Randwick on Wednesday.
With a win and a second from three starts, Petulie looks a filly of promise and will be worth following when she comes to town for a suitable race.
Bred and retained by Geoff and Beryl White, Petulie is the third foal of the Danehill (USA) mare Tramore a half-sister to champion filly Triscay, who won 15 races and $1.9 million for the Whites in a glittering career.
Other prominent family members include Group One winners Defier, La Baraka and Demerger, so Petulie is lacking for nothing on the score of pedigree.
