South Australia, September 2 – The 1400 metre maiden at Balaklava on Wednesday was won in devastating fashion by the David Hayes trained Catbird filly Tantomile, a $185,000 Magic Millions purchase for De Burgh Equine from the Yarraman Park draft in 2008.
Close up at her first two runs back from a spell, Tantomile relished the step to 1400 metres and despite racing greenly over the concluding stages made a one act affair of the event bolting away to win by more than four lengths.
Raced by a large syndicate including Blue Sky Thoroughbreds, Tantomile is the second foal of the Barathea (IRE) mare Theatrical Star, a half-sister to Group Three winner Flaming Heart from the family of Group One winner Unworldly.
Theatrical Star has a two year-old full brother to Tantomile called Goldcat and a yearling filly by Foreplay.
