Melbourne, June 5 – The juvenile event over 1200 metres at Sandown on Wednesday was won by the David Hayes trained Encosta de Lago colt Infatuation, a $250,000 purchase from the draft of Yarraman Park at the 2007 Magic Millions Yearling Sale.
Unplaced on debut at Cranbourne on May 9, Infatuation improved sharply on that effort and despite racing greenly finished with great determination to nail the favourite Truly Ablaze and win by a short half head.
Infatuation was bred by the Dufficy brothers and is yet another two year-old winner this season purchased by renowned judge James Bester, whose star acquisitions include Von Costa de Hero, Hips Don’t Lie and Stripper.
Infatuation is a half-brother to stakes-winner Given and stakes-placed performers Simplest and Amazing One being from the good producer Mad Desire, a half-sister to Group Three winners Alert Me and Techniques.
