Opening the action packed Sha Tin meeting on Sunday with a thrilling victory was exciting I Am Invincible two year-old Bear Chum. The David Ferraris trained gelding was beaten into second place by Look Eras on debut at Sha Tin last month when he jumped awkwardly, but was able to turn the tables on that rival to post a neck win in the 1000 metre griffin sprint. He hit the front a couple of furlongs from home, but had to repel serious challenges from the place-getters before edging clear to win. A $230,000 Magic Millions purchase for his trainer from the Manx Park draft, Bear Chum is the second winner for Chirurgo Dame, a Flying Spur daughter of Group III winner Dottoressa. He is the third Hong Kong winner for I am Invincible, who has also had seven winners in Singapore, his stock proving highly adaptable to the Asian racing environment.
