Quality I Am Invincible colt Anode has shown glimpses of brilliance in his career to date, but he needs a good track to show his best and he got it at Rosehill to claim his first Black Type win in the $500,000 Listed ATC Tapp Craig (1,400m).
Trained by Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott, Anode was a close first-up second to Traffic Warden in the G2 ATC Run to the Rose and then faded on the soft track in the G1 ATC Golden Rose to finish unplaced.
Back on top of the ground and given a bold ride by Tim Clark, Anode led for home and was too strong in winning by a head over strong finishing Justify (USA) colt Just Party.
A total thriller in the Listed Tapp-Craig, with Anode lasting – just!@GaiWaterhouse1| @clarkyhk | @aus_turf_club pic.twitter.com/ui0c3ocr0V

“I was always confident he would be able to find plenty under pressure. He got a little bit lost when he quickened so nicely and was out there in front on by himself, but I knew he would find and he did,” said Adrian Bott.
“We always thought he could get further so we’ll look to take him to the mile and go to the (G2) Callander-Presnell ($1 million)in a couple of weeks.”
Anode was passed in at Magic Millions and retained by Evergreen Rich and is a half-brother to Singapore Derby winner Han Xin from the family of champion sire Fastnet Rock. He has the overall record of two wins and four placings from nine starts with prizemoney topping $600,000.
He is the sixth winner from eight to race from Mysterious Light, a metro winning Fantastic Light (USA) mare from stakes-placed Cirque du Soleil, who is a sister to Fastnet Rock with G2 winner Lightsaber also on the page.
Anode is the 110th stakes-winner for three-time Champion Sire I Am Invincible.
