Yarraman Park’s flagship sire I Am Invincible enjoyed his best ever Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale this week with 33 yearlings averaging $553,030 highlighted by five yearlings that sold for seven figures.
The final day of trade on Wednesday produced colts from Soorena and Utopia that sold for $1.4 million and $1million, their success follow on from previous big sales for I Am Invincible with colts from Hoss Amor and Eye for Fun fetching $1,050,000 and a colt from Marianne fetching $1million.
The colt from Soorena was offered by Gilgai Farm who sold his full brother last year at Inglis Premier also for $1.4 million.
A half-brother to Group I winner The Quarterback and Group II winner Philippi, he was bought by Hawkes Racing.
“He is by I Am Invincible and his is a half-brother to Newmarket Handicap winner, so he looks pretty fat if he can gallop,” Wayne Hawkes told ANZ Bloodstock News.
“There were two or three colts (at the complex who stood out) but he is right there. Someone else will say something else was, but we thought he was (the best).”
The final million dollar colt of the sale for I Am Invincible was the half-brother to Group I SAJC Derby winner Volatile Mix from Utopia that was offered by Torryburn Stud on behalf of well-known owner breeders Graham and Linda Huddy.
He was bought by the Hong Kong Jockey Club for $1million, one of two colts they bought by I Am Invincible for that sum, the other being from stakes-winner Marianne.
The Huddy’s have enjoyed plenty of success in purchasing and racing the progeny of I Am Invincible such as their multiple stakes-winner Most Important, who has won over $800,000 in prizemoney.
Their sale ring success with I Am Invincible on the other side of the fence is to be congratulated!
