Magic Millions 2YO Classic winner Houtzen was bought out of the Book II part of the Magic Millions Sale in 2016, so it was no surprise when her sire I am Invincible produced the top priced colt and filly at that sale on Sunday. Top price was $260,000 paid for an I Am Invincible colt from Yields of Gold that was offered by Mane Lodge. He was bought by Grant Morgan’s Ontrack Thoroughbreds in conjunction with Houtzen’s trainer Toby Edmonds. Ontrack Thoroughbreds’ Grant Morgan said he was delighted to snare the colt and hoped he could continue the great run connections have had with the progeny of I Am Invincible. “The colt is a three quarter brother to I Am Snippety who unfortunately broke down when going to win a Group Two,” Morgan pointed out. “This is the first time the mare (Yields of Gold) has been to I Am Invincible and he is a stallion who is now commanding better prices. “I Am Invincible is a very dominant stallion who upgrades his mares. We’ve had good experience with the stallion with Brazen Beau and this colt’s pedigree is not dissimilar to his at the same stage. “The colt will go to Toby Edmonds. The decision had already been made before Saturday that we’d support Toby’s stable and it’s great to support a local trainer who also has had great success with the sire. “The horse will be raced by some existing clients and the opportunity is also there for a slice or two for new clients,” Morgan added. Top priced filly at $200,000 was an I Am Invincible from Rich Megadale that was offered by Dartbrook Downs Thoroughbreds and bought by JHB Syndications/ Michael Freedman Racing.
