Melbourne, September 24- Classy Fastnet Rock mare Jolie Brise returned to form with a strong win at the Moonee Valley night meeting last Friday.
Having her third run back from a spell, the Pat Hyland trained Jolie Brise was sent out favourite for the 1600 metre mares event and did best in a competitive finish to win by a short head.
Raced by the Frost family’s Pendant Equine Syndicate, which has enjoyed much success with high class fillies such as Zarita and Ballet Society, Jolie Brise now has the overall record of four wins from 11 starts with prizemoney of $161,688.
Bred by Vintage Bloodstock and consigned to the 2008 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale by Yarraman Park as agent, Jolie Brise was purchased by Pendant for $400,000 and is a half-sister to stakes-winner Rutherford Eagle from the Group Three winning Last Tycoon (IRE) mare Vestey.
Vestey hails from the wonderful Gypsy Moss (IRE) family that has produced a plethora of top class stakes horses, this particular branch featuring Pasta Express, Time Out, Legally Bay and Classy Fella.
Fourth in the Group One MRC Thousand Guineas last spring behind Irish Lights, Jolie Brise will no doubt be seeking Black Type success over the next few months.
