Sydney, January 31 – Exciting Magic Albert filly Lieserl tuned up for the $500,000 Inglis Classic to be run at Randwick on February 10 with an impressive barrier trial win at Rosehill on Tuesday morning.
Having her second trial after a short break, the athletic chestnut settled at the rear before surging home to win the 900 metre gallop by a length and three quarters.
The Gai Waterhouse trained filly got back after being checked at the start on debut at Randwick on November 18, but overcame all difficulties to score a stylish win.
A $57,5000 purchase from the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale for Jon Freyer Bloodstock, she looms as the dark horse in the $500,000 Inglis Classic.
Her sire Magic Albert has just three entries for the 2007 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale in a filly from Sam’s Belle, plus colts from Happy Camper and Ellishir, the latter a half-brother to stakes-winner Shepishir, winner of the Listed Goldmarket Quality at the Gold Coast after the catalogue went to print.
