The Champion 2YO in Singapore last season, I Am Invincible colt Super One emulated his sire when turning in an explosive performance to win the Group III SAJC McKay Stakes at Morphettville on Saturday earning high praise from winning rider Daniel Moor. Not seen since finishing down the track to Japonisme in the Group I VRC Coolmore Stud Stakes, it was a new look Super One that returned for Lee and Anthony Freedman in the 1100 metre sprint. He rolled straight to the front and was never headed in cruising home to win the race won by his own sire in 2009 by a length and a half.

“He’s come here today in excellent order and the scary thing is there is improvement to come,” Moor said. “He’s had a good blow off that which you would expect. It might not have looked that impressive but he’s come home in 33 (seconds) and change. “Riding for Lee and Anthony Freedman I’ve ridden some fast ones and potentially he could be the fastest. “He gives me a phenomenal feel, trackwork, trials and now on race day. He gives me a feel no other sprinter has and the world is his oyster. “There’s improvement to come and the extra distance won’t worry him.” Originally a $190,000 Magic Millions purchase from the draft of Broadwater Thoroughbreds, Super One now runs for a syndicate headed by Newgate Farm, China Horse Club, WinStar Farm and Yarraman Park , who stand his sire. With five wins and a second from just seven starts, Super One is the first foal of unraced Tale of the Cat (USA) mare Tails Wins and was bred by Reg Kemister. Tails Wins is from stakes-placed import Multiple Wins, a daughter of stakes-winner Princess Sybil from the family of Group I winning European sprinter Les Arcs, winner of a Royal Ascot Golden Jubilee Stakes. Tails Wins has a yearling filly by I am Invincible and was covered by him again last year. I Am Invincible also had a smart two year-old winner at Flemington with I Am A Star scoring over 1100 metres by a length and a half at her second start. Trained by Shane Nichols, I Am a Star was a $40,000 Inglis Classic purchase for James Harron Bloodstock from the Broadwater Farm Thoroughbreds draft and runs for Matthew Sandblom, who also races her stakes-placed full sister Band on the Run. I Am a Star is the third winner for Star Band (USA), a half-sister by Dixieland Band to Group III winner Common World from the family of Australian Group I winner Pear Tart.
