Sydney, September 9 – Just three two year-olds went around in the first juvenile barrier trial of the season in Sydney on Monday at Randwick with victory going to Magic Albert colt Alkadabra, who was the equal top lot at the 2013 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale Summer Book earlier this year.

Prepared by David Vandyke, Alkadabra found the line strongly to run past Duporth filly Choice Sunday to score by three-quarters of a length in the 740 metre scamper.

Alkadabra was purchased by his trainer for $170,000 from the draft of Fairview Park Stud and is a half-brother to two winners from speedy mare Kianben, a full sister to stakes-winning sprinter Nan Tien.

Kianben returned to Yarraman Park last spring and is due to foal to promising young Fastnet Rock sire Hinchinbrook.
