Magic Albert Leads BOBS

Sydney, May 7 – Magic Albert has hit the front on the BOBS Stallion Activity List with 22 wins and bonus payments of $162,500.

A popular and hugely beneficial scheme aimed at generating a better financial return for racehorse owners, BOBS has now been embraced by all the major studs.

Recent BOBS winners for Magic Albert include good metropolitan performer Toldyas, plus country winners Magic Jim, Magic Poppy and Misty O’Yamba.

The Albert Stapleford trained Toldyas has won $118,450, winning three races and placing eight times from 13 starts.

With 33 individual Australian winners this season, Magic Albert is the leading second season sire by winners and has also made a keen impression in New Zealand where he is the sire of the Group One NZ Guineas winner Magic Cape.

Magic Albert also had a winner in Macau last Saturday, when the former Lee Freedman trained three year-old Hiawatha posted his first win under the name of Get Right Thing.

Placed four times from eight starts in Australia, he transferred to Macau in December last year and was having his third start for trainer Pat Lee when scoring over 1400 metres.

With a service fee of $16,500, Magic Albert looks a value choice for breeders this season seeking a proven sire free of Northern Dancer blood.
