South Africa, May 3 – Aussie breds have been in hot form in South Africa of late with two year-old colt Fighting Warrior adding to the success with an easy win at Greyville on Tuesday.
The Ivan Moore trained son of Magic Albert improved from a last start second to win the 1300 metre maiden by two and three-quarter lengths at his third start.
A $15,000 purchase from the Attunga Stud draft at the 2009 Magic Millions Weanling Sale, he was re-offered during Session Five at the Magic Millions Yearling Sale in 2010 fetching $29,000.
Fighting Warrior is the third South African winner from the Wallenda (USA) mare Dark Blue, a half-sister to Kiwi Group I winner Prussian Blue.
His sire Magic Albert stands for $16,500 this spring and will be on show at Yarraman Park next Friday morning at 9.30 am for a stallion parade.
