Newcastle, September 17 – Fresh from a treble of winners last Friday Magic Albert was in the winners list again at Newcastle on Wednesday with improving four year-old Last Try.
Trained at Scone by respected horseman Greg Bennett, Last Try finished strongly to take the Ratings 65 event over 1850 metres by a long neck over the favourite Maxim.
With two wins and three placings from 10 starts, Last Try is just starting to his straps as a four year-old and the best is still to come.
Retained to race by his breeders, Last Try is from Dancing Chimes, a half-sister by Johann Quatz (IRE) to stakes-winner Touch the Groom.
Magic Albert covered a terrific book of mares last spring and stands this year at a fee of $16,500.
