Brisbane, August 8 – Prime Thoroughbreds had reason to celebrate on Saturday after six year-old Magic Albert gelding Too Many Reds made a brilliant return to win at Doomben for new trainer Tony Gollan.
Formerly prepared in Tasmania, Too Many Reds seemed to appreciate the warmer Brisbane weather scoring a powerful half neck win in the 1100 metre sprint under 59 kg at his first run back from a spell.
Too Many Reds ran a class record in clocking a quick 1:03.52 seconds.
Bought privately from the paddock at Yarraman Park by Joe O’Neill of Prime Thoroughbreds as a weanling, Too Many Reds has been a terrific money-spinner for his owners winning eight races from 27 starts and more than $200,000 in prizemoney.
Too Many Reds is from the Rubiton mare Red Centre, a daughter of stakes-placed Land of Dreams.
Red Centre has a yearling filly by Magic Albert and is due to foal to the same sire again this spring.
