December 21 – The 2007 NZTBA International Management Scholarship has been won by young Kiwi horseman Mark Lindsey, a valuable member of the yearling team at Yarraman Park Stud in the Hunter Valley for the last 12 months.
Mark recently returned to New Zealand to apply for the scholarship, which aims to identify existing and potential managers within the New Zealand thoroughbred industry and offer them an opportunity to broaden their knowledge and experience.
Their travel and tuition under this scheme seeks to highlight the diverse career options available to young people within the international bloodstock business.
The scholarship winner is sent to various studs around the world to study under stud managers, providing them with the type of knowledge that will one day enable them to run a farm of their own.
Mark is the second Yarraman Park staff member to gain overseas experience through a scholarship in the last 12 months, joining Luke Cash who travelled to Ireland for six months earlier this year after winning a Hunter Valley Thoroughbred Breeders Association Scholarship.
Raising top class thoroughbreds requires an outstanding team of people to do the job properly and Yarraman Park has been blessed with some sensational young horsemen and women over the years.
