Sydney, March 20 – Consistent Magic Albert filly Toldyas broke through for her first metropolitan success at the Randwick meeting on Tuesday, finishing too solidly for another Magic Albert in Nicaragua.

They cleared out to beat their rivals in the restricted event for three year-olds by more than two lengths, with race fitness giving Toldyas an edge over the Gai Waterhouse trained Nicaragua who was resuming from a spell.

Prepared by respected Gosford based conditioner Albert Stapleford, who also put the polish on Magic Albert, Toldyas has been a model of consistency with two wins and eight placings from 11 starts, the leggy chestnut missing a cheque just once in her career to date.

Bred and retained to race by the Stapleford family, Toldyas is the third foal of Balciano Miss, a handy country winner of five races.

Toldyas becomes the 27th individual Australian winner this season for Yarraman Park based Magic Albert, with runner-up Nicaragua worth following after his encouraging first up performance.

With four placings from five starts, Nicaragua is long overdue to record a win for owner Yvonne Smith, who purchased the gelding for $45,000 from the 2005 Magic Millions Yearling Sale.
