Melbourne, July 20 – Magic Albert’s stellar season continued at Sandown on Wednesday with three year-old gelding Albertique posting his first metropolitan success.

The Shane Nichols trained gelding has been in top form during the winter with two wins and two placings from his last four starts.

He revelled in the heavy ground at Sandown to lead all the way and win the Ratings 68 event by nearly two lengths.

Albertique is the first winner for the metro winning Magic Ring (IRE) mare Magique Miss, who traces back to influential producer Betty Box (IRE), whose many Group I winning descendants include Ivory’s Irish, Brawny Spirit, Hit the Roof, Turffontein, etc.

Albertique is one of 96 Australian winners this season for Magic Albert, whose progeny have won $3.2 million in the past 12 months.
