Singapore, February 17 – At a glittering awards night in Singapore on Thursday evening the Yarraman Park sold Mr Big was crowned Champion 2YO for 2010/2011.
He claimed honours on the strength of three victories from three visits to the racetrack at two which saw him capture the Aushorse Golden Horseshoe (1200m) Sng Gr 2 and the Magic Millions Juvenile Championship Sng Gr 3 (1200m).
Trained by Michael Freedman, Mr Big has been a resounding success for connections considering he cost just $21,000 from the Yarraman Park Stud at the 2010 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.
Like Australia’s champion juvenile Sepoy, Mr Big is by Elusive Quality (USA) from a daughter of Danehill.
Bred by Shadwell and foaled and raised at Yarraman, Mr Big is from the unraced Danehill mare Basamaat (IRE) – a sister to stakes placegetter Clear Impression and daughter of stakes winning Red Ransom juvenile Shining Hour.
Mr Big has maintained his good form into his three year-old season and has the overall record of five wins and three seconds from eight starts.
