Sydney – Breaking his maiden at the ATC metropolitan meeting at Newcastle on Wednesday was the Grahame Begg trained three year-old Wine ‘n’ Dine, whose half-sister by I Am Invincible will be offered at the 2013 Magic Millions next week.
By Foreplay from Zelady, Wine ‘n’ Dine broke though at his first attempt at 1600 metres, relishing the longer trip to win by half a length with Hugh Bowman in the saddle.
Unlucky when a close up fourth at his previous run at Canterbury, Wine ‘n’ Dine deserved to break through after a series of runs when he has featured in stewards reports for a variety of reasons.
A $55,000 purchase for Bill Mitchell from the Yarraman Park draft at the Inglis Scone Select Yearling Sale, Wine ‘n’ Dine was bred by Jilly Henderson of Middlebrook Station Thoroughbreds and is the fifth winner from five to race for Zelady, a grand-daughter of Group II winner Bound to Honour.
The current yearling from Zelady is a filly by I Am Invincible that will be offered by Yarraman Park at Magic Millions as Lot 769.
