New Zealand, November 16 – Magic Albert posted an impressive winner at Tauranga in New Zealand at the weekend when four year-old gelding Albercheno bolted in by nearly four lengths over 1300 metres.
Trained by Joanne Surgenor for owner Peter Walker, Albercheno has won three races and placed three times from 16 starts.
A $45,000 purchase from the Yarraman Park draft at the 2005 Magic Millions National Weanling Sale, Albercheno was secured by Kiwi agent Robt Dawe and was immediately exported to New Zealand.
He is the third foal of the unraced Snippets mare Snippet’s Dancer, who comes from the family of stakes-winners Allez Glen and We’re Dancing.
Albercheno is a three-quarter brother-in-blood to Gary Portelli’s smart Magic Albert five year-old Something Anything, a Group Three placed winner of four races and some $358,000 in prizemoney.
Snippet’s Dancer also has a yearling full brother to Albercheno, whose sire Magic Albert had two winners on Sunday with Greenmount Belle scoring in Tasmania and A Magic Pick winning at Dubbo.
