Melbourne, July 2 – Speedy Magic Albert mare Mistry has now won two races in less than a week, backing up from a solid win at Ballarat last Thursday to score again at Sandown on Wednesday.

Ridden a treat by Linda Meech, the Bruce Purcell trained mare led throughout and hung on grimly at the finish to take the 1000 metre open sprint for fillies and mares by a short head.

Raced by Bahram Thoroughbreds Syndicate, four year-old Mistry has won four races and placed a further five times from 16 starts earning just shy of $70,000 in prizemoney.

Mistry is a full sister to this season’s stakes-placed three year-old filly Plain Magic, the pair being from smart metropolitan winner Glow Misty for Me.

A daughter of Forest Glow (USA), Glow Misty for Me is from Group Two placed Misty Power from a terrific running family that features Group One winner Notoire and stakes-winners such as Tempest Tost, Well Known and River Mist.

Magic Albert has had a sensational season with three stakes-winners in Group Two AJC Villiers Stakes winner Something Anything, Group Three winner Za Magic and Marchinski, winner of the Group Three AJC Frederick Clissold Stakes prior to his sale to Hong Kong.

He is the sire of some 56 winners of more than $2.1 million in prizemoney this season and his yearlings this year sold for up to $100,000 and averaged more than three times his 2006 service fee of $11,000.

As a proven stakes producing outcross sire completely free of Northern Dancer, Mr Prospector and Star Kingdom (IRE), Magic Albert is hard to beat this spring for value at a service fee of $13,750.
