Melbourne, September 2 – The David Hayes trained Lonhro four year-old Egyptian Lova bounced back to top form to score a powerful win at Sandown on Wednesday.
Unlucky at his previous run when checked at the 1000 metre mark and beaten a short half head and short head into third place, Egyptian Lova made amends this time around surging home to take the Ratings 82 event over 1300 metres by a length.
A lightly raced entire, Egyptian Lova has won three races and placed twice from seven starts earning more than $50,000 in prizemoney with the promise of more to come.
Foaled and raised at Yarraman, then consigned to the 2007 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale by Yarraman Park as agent, Egyptian Lova failed to make his reserve of $150,000 so was retained to race by his breeders Mr and Mrs Tim Hughes.
A half-sister by Woodman (USA) to Group One winner Emerald Dream and a grand-daughter of celebrated producer Cotehele House (GB), Wooden Melody has had three foals to race all winners and has already produced a filly this spring by Encosta de Lago.
