Melbourne, December 24 – Making it two wins from as many starts at Sandown on Christmas Eve was exciting prospect Soft Sand, a $160,000 Inglis Easter purchase from the draft of Yarraman Park.
The Colin Little trained daughter of leading European sire Dansili resumed from a spell to win the 1000 metre fillies event with a barnstorming finish after settling last in the field.
She stormed home to win by more than a length, clocking a tick over 57 seconds in an impressive performance that will have her trainer raising the bar for her in the near future.
Little said he was hoping the filly would measure up to a race like the Group II MRC Angus Armanasco Stakes at Caulfield on February 25.
Imported in utero, Soft Sand is the first foal of the Rahy mare Mizzle (USA), a three-quarter sister to Group III Newmarket July Cup winner City On a Hill from Group I winner Loving Claim.
The current yearling from Mizzle, a filly by Hard Spun has been entered by Yarraman Park for the 2012 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.
