Sydney, May 15 – A competitive maiden over 1600 metres at Warwick Farm on Sunday was won in good style by improving Al Maher filly Song Shan, a $55,000 Magic Millions purchase from the draft of Yarraman Park.

The Anthony Cummings trained filly was beaten only two and a half lengths in the recent Group III ATC Carbine Club Stakes and despite her last start rank failure on the bog track in the Group III ATC Frank Packer Plate, punters were keen to get on.

She rewarded her supporters, powering home to win by the best part of a length as a heavily backed favourite with connections indicating a Brisbane trip is likely for Song Shan, who is entered in both the Queensland Oaks and Derby.

Bred by Yarraman Park, Song Shan is one of two winners from the smart Langfuhr (Can) mare Sacred Hill, a metropolitan winning half-sister to stakes-winner Pottinger and grand producer Suggestive, the dam of Group I winner Sky Cuddle and Group III winner Sky Love.

Sacred Hill was one of 133 mares covered by Yarraman Park’s young sire I Am Invincible in his first season at stud last spring.
