Sydney, June 11 – Ill-fated Golden Slipper winner Catbird was represented by an eye-catching juvenile winner at Canterbury on Wednesday when smart gelding Confounded strolled away to win the restricted event over 1200 metres by two lengths.
Stakes-placed last December behind All American and Hybrid in a Listed event at Moonee Valley, Confounded is racing in great form at present claiming this success after a facile six length win at Kembla on May 31.
Bred by Woodlands Stud and trained by Peter Snowden, Confounded was one of three winners throughout Australia on Wednesday for the now Sheikh Mohammed owned operation.
Confounded is the first foal of the Rory’s Jester mare Bemused, who was acquired by Woodlands Stud for $50,000 at the 2005 Inglis Broodmare Sale when in foal to Catbird.
Confounded is one of 85 winners this season for Catbird who is having a great run with progeny earnings in excess of $2.6million and his last crop of foals to be sold as yearlings next year.
