Saturday was another standout day on the track for Hellbent, with two two-year-old city winners.
Sunrays (out of Hiccups by Fastnet Rock) returned to Doomben, securing a one-length victory second-up and maintaining her unbeaten record for trainer Kelly Schweida and owner Mr P Moran.
Post-race, Jodie Schweida praised the filly, saying: “She’s one of the nicest fillies I’ve had anything to do with… She just keeps on improving every day. She’s a good eater, just a very easy filly.”
Just hours later, another promising juvenile, Monte Tremezzo, made a winning debut at Ascot for Dan Morton.
Sold by Ridgeport Holdings at the 2024 Magic Millions Perth Yearling Sale, she was purchased by Morton Racing and is out of the Not A Single Doubt mare Tremezzina.
Sunrays and Monte Tremezzo now join an exciting group of Hellbent juveniles, including Te Akau’s G2-placed filly Marokopa Falls and Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott’s Tremonti, the Listed Maribyrnong Stakes-winning colt for Darby Racing.
Vinnie‘s son is represented by 29 yearlings at the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale and is the most represented sire for the 2025 edition, which commences on Sunday, 9 February – click to view.
