Tasmania, February 1 – Promising Magic Albert three year-old Too Many Reds showed his rivals a clean pair of heels when dashing away to win the $30,000 Betfair Carbine Club Stakes in Hobart on Saturday.
Trained by Charlie Goggin for a syndicate of Prime Thoroughbreds owners, Too Many Reds was sent out a heavily backed favourite and gave punters no cause for concern as he scooted clear to win the 1100 metre sprint by more than two lengths.
Bought privately from the paddock at Yarraman Park, Too Many Reds has won three of six starts and placed a further two times earning $46,415 in prizemoney.
The three year-old gelding is from the Rubiton mare Red Centre, a daughter of stakes-placed Land of Dreams. She delivered a full brother to Too Many Reds last spring and was subsequently covered by Trotamondo (Chi).
Magic Albert also added a new Black Type horse to his tally with two year-old gelding I Am Magic finishing third in the Listed Elwick Stakes on the same program.
Also trained by Charlie Goggin, I Am Magic has placed at each of three starts so a win cannot be far off.
Foaled and raised at Yarraman, I Am Magic is the first foal of the Brahms (USA) mare Miss Schumann, a daughter of stakes-winner Dallaeni.
Magic Albert is the sire of 41winners this season of more than $1.1 million in prizemoney.
