Sydney, July 18 – Posting his third win from just eight starts at the metropolitan meeting at Gosford on Wednesday was consistent three year-old gelding Number One Gun, an $85,000 purchase for Champion Thoroughbreds from the Yarraman Park draft at the 2010 MM National Yearling Sale.
Prepared by John O’Shea, Number One Gun lugged top weight of 60.5 kg to an impressive all the way win in the Benchmark 70 event over 1200 metres with leading rider Nash Rawiller in the saddle .
“He tends to appreciate it when he can get to the front and it paid dividends for him today,” said O’Shea.
Number One Gun is turning out to be a great money spinner for connections following his purchase by Champion Thoroughbreds, his overall record now three wins and three placings from eight starts with prizemoney in excess of $120,000.
“He was a very deserving winner to carry the big weight and hold them all off, so he can certainly win better races,” Nash Rawiller said.
A son of prolific winner getter Mossman, Number One Gun is a half-brother to former speedy mare Aggie Grey being one of three winners from stakes-placed Unbridled’s Song (USA) mare Graphite Lass.
Graphite Lass has a weanling colt by Yarraman young gun I Am Invincible and is now in foal to Magic Albert.
