Young Yarraman Park based sire Hinchinbrook is the only first season sire to have a runner in this year’s $2million Magic Millions 2YO Classic and has not one, but two runners after both Carriages and Old Trieste accepted for the lucrative Gold Coast feature.

Carriages for Gai Waterhouse and Old Trieste for Andrew Noblet fared badly at the barrier draw coming up with 21 and 20 respectively, but both have pleased their trainers and are expected to run well.

A $110,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Yarraman Park draft for Round Table Racing, Carriages booked her ticket north with a dominant win in the $200,000 Magic Millions Clockwise Classic at Ballarat.

Yarraman Park will be cheering her on as they will offer her half-brother by I Am Invincible at the sale as Lot 611.

Old Trieste has yet to win, but has form in the good races and his trainer is optimistic.

Noblet said Old Trieste had done well since finishing fourth in the Group IIII BRC McLachlan Stakes, which was his first outing in five weeks.

“He’s the perfect horse attitude-wise for the race and he’d just had five weeks between runs and that brought him undone last start,” Noblet said.

“Here they always rock along so it suits him the way he races.”
