Wyong, March 18 – Astute trainer Guy Walter has a very smart three year-old in Alberto Magic, who maintained his unbeaten record with another exciting win at Wyong on Tuesday.
The son of Magic Albert was in a class of his own when winning on debut at Canberra last month by nine lengths in a slick 57.26 seconds as favourite.
Having his second start in a Benchmark 70 event over 1000 metres, Alberto Magic scored again, this time by only half a length, but in a brisk 56.78 seconds.
Retained to race by his breeder, Alberto Magic is the second winner for Red Feather, a winning daughter of former flying filly Mother Duck, who won nine races highlighted by the Group III AJC Gimcrack Stakes.
The Mother Duck family has enjoyed plenty of success in recent years to produce stakes-winners such as Ladys Angel, Anatina, Pricked, Miss Bux and Atomic, with Alberto Magic looming as another horse of serious potential.
A proven sire of four Group I winners, Magic Albert has five entries for the 2014 Inglis Australian Yearling Sale including the half-brother to Group II ATC Silver Slipper winner Mossfun.
