A $65,000 Magic Millions purchase for B2B Bloodstock / Blue Sky Bloodstock from the draft of Yarraman Park, unbeaten filly Zelady’s Night Out proved herself the best juvenile in Queensland with a stylish victory in the Group III BRC Bruce McLachlan Stakes at the Gold Coast on Saturday.
A brilliant winner at her first two starts for the Tony Gollan stable, Zelady’s Night Out was tackling 1200 metres for the first time and taking her first look at the Gold Coast track with neither proving an obstacle for the talented daughter of Myboycharlie (IRE).
She stalked the leader Slumber Party and forged clear for Jim Byrne to win by a length over the Gai Waterhouse trained filly, who was third in the Listed ATC Gimcrack Stakes at her only previous run.
“We’ve always been pretty confident going to the Millions that she’ll run well,” Gollan said after the race.
“Obviously the favourite (Capitalist) wasn’t here today and he’s a major stumbling block in a couple of weeks time, but she can’t have been more impressive than she’s been in her three starts and has had a valuable look around the Gold Coast track.”
By the same sire as VRC Oaks winner Jameka, Zelady’s Night Out has won a tick over $200,000 in winning her only three starts and looks a great prospect for the future beyond what happens in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic next month.
A half-sister to Group III winner Excites Zelady and six other winners, Zelady’s Night Out is the eighth and final foal of the seven time winning Zeditave mare Zelady, who died earlier this year.
