New Zealand, February 12 – Precocious youngster Vinnie Eagle, a son of our leading young sire I Am Invincible, is on target to further his domestic juvenile record at Ellerslie in New Zealand next month.
He is progressing toward the Group I Haunui Farm Diamond Stakes on March 8 and co-trainer Tony Pike said he had yet to decide if he would have a lead-up run at Matamata in the Listed Reid & Harrison Slipper on Saturday week.
Vinnie Eagle won on debut and then claimed the Group III Eclipse Stakes before failing in the Inglis Classic at Rosehill last month.
“He might have had a bit of heat stress and ran well below his best,” Pike said. “He had a week off and he’s nice and bright now.”
