Yarraman Park’s Hellbent was in hot form on Thursday with two new winners, Hell I Am scoring at Canterbury and then Tattenham breaking the ice at Cranbourne with a commanding win.

Having his first run this year following an unplaced debut in the Inglis Banner last spring, the Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young-trained Tattenham was super impressive for Daniel Moor.

The striking bay charged into contention with a brilliant turn of foot over the final furlong and raced away to win the 1300m maiden against older rivals eased down by three lengths.

“He’s a bit of a lad, but he loves his work… he just doesn’t know what he’s doing yet, but I’m hopeful he can learn to focus and improve,” said Moor.

Bred by Segenhoe, Tattenham was a $120,000 Inglis Easter purchase from the Segenhoe draft for Busuttin Racing and is the second winner from well-bred winning High Chaparral (IRE) mare Sprout, a half-sister to Group III winner Colour from the True Blonde branch of the Easy Date family.

Tattenham becomes the sixth winner for I Am Invincible’s brilliant Group I winning sprinter Hellbent, who stands at a fee of $22,000 this spring.
