July 2 – A pair of Yarraman Park raised two year-olds both tasted their first race track success on Tuesday with Hewayaat scoring at Geelong and It’s Gonna Be Good scoring at Scone.
A David Hayes trained daughter of Red Ransom (USA), Hewayaat broke through at her fifth start to win over 1300 metres by a neck.
Bred by Sheikh Hamdan’s Shadwell Australia and foaled and raised at Yarraman, Hewayaat (pictured as a yearling) was bought back for $50,000 at the Inglis Easter Yearling Sale and runs in the Shadwell colours.
She is the second winner for Zabeel mare Bahja, a half-sister to the dam of Group I winner Rewaaya from the family of Group I star and sire Snippets and Godlen Slipper winner Forensics.
Improving to win at her third start at Scone was the Norm Hilton trained Exceed and Excel filly It’s Gonna Be Good, who won over 1100 metres by a long neck.
A modest $22,000 purchase from the Yarraman draft at the Magic Millions Session Five Sale, It’s Gonna Be Good was also bred by Shadwell and is the third winner from Bayyaan (USA), a half-sister by Dixieland Band to stakes-winner Beat Baby from the family of champion sire Last Tycoon.
