Gold Coast, June 5 – Stakes-placed More Than Ready (USA) filly Wiener grabbed the limelight early during the second session of the 2007 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale when she was knocked down to Kitchwin Hills for $1.25 million.
Wiener is no stranger to the Magic Millions complex having fetched $350,000 there as a yearling in 2005, when plucked by trainer Gerald Ryan from the draft of Yarraman Park Stud to be the highest priced yearling sold at that sale by her sire.
Now a three year-old filly, Wiener had just five starts for two placings including a third to Magic Millions winner Mirror Mirror in the Listed AJC Gimcrack Stakes last season and was subsequently retired and sent to champion sire Redoute’s Choice.
Offered by Bellerive Stud as agent, Wiener made an attractive package as a broodmare being a half-sister to Group One winning sire prospect Snitzel and in foal to his sire with the resulting foal to be a three-quarter relation.
Wiener’s stakes-winning dam Snippets’ Lass is owned by Francis Naude and based at Yarraman Park where she has done an outstanding job for the Mitchell family run farm producing Snitzel ($260,000 MM 2004), Wiener ($350,000 MM 2005), unraced 2YO filly Royal Snippets by Royal Academy (USA) ($775,000 MM 2006) and the current yearling, a filly by Redoute’s Choice that was the highest selling female at Magic Millions in January when she made $1.4 million.
Snippets’ Lass produced a colt last spring to champion sprinter Fastnet Rock in his first season at stud and is back in foal to him again.
