Hong Kong, October 14 – – At the Sha Tin meeting in Hong Kong on Sunday , Catbird five year-old XI Ying Men bounced back to form after a spell with a dominant win over 1000 metres.

Trainer Me Tsui Yu-sak said the key to XI Ying Men recapturing his best form was keeping him fresh, as he showed with a brilliant two and a quarter length victory with Douglas Whyte in the saddle.

“He has been very competitive up in Class Three when he comes to the track in that frame of mind and he just jumped out today and wanted to win,” Whyte told South China Morning Post.

“He let down strongly, and how much will be left in the tank, I don’t know. I didn’t beat it out of him, he just let down and wanted to run today.”

Bred and sold by Yarraman Park, XI Ying Men was bought by the Hong Kong Jockey Club for $100,000 at the 2009 Magic Millions Yearling Sale and has won three races.

Xi Ying Men is a full brother to Group III placed Anhinga and smart metropolitan winner Vankedisi being one of four winners from the Crested Wave (USA) mare Rippling Mill (NZ).
