Yarraman Park has announced service fees for 2009 with proven stakes producer Magic Albert reduced to $13,750 in light of the overall economic downturn.

“We’ve had tremendous interest in Magic Albert for this season as he is one of the very few affordable and proven outcross horses in the Hunter Valley that is completely free of Northern Dancer and Mr Prospector blood,” said Arthur Mitchell.

“He’s enjoying an outstanding season with Group Two Villiers winner Something Anything and Group Three winner Marchinski, so we certainly didn’t need to reduce his fee, but you can’t ignore what has been happening at the sales here and around the world.”

Magic Albert also added two new stakes horses to his tally last weekend with progressive three year-olds Za Magic and Plain Magic finishing second and third in the Listed QTC Queensland Day Plate at Eagle Farm.

“Magic Albert had his strongest ever book of mares in 2007 as a result of EI and that crop of foals, now weanlings are his best yet, so you would have to think there is quite a bit of blue sky ahead for him,” Mitchell added.

Champion three year-old Trotamondo (Chi) was straight out of quarantine last year for his debut season at Yarraman and has settled in well since then.

“Trotamondo has let down into a lovely horse and we are looking forward to the arrival of his first foals this spring,” said Mitchell.
