Gold Coast, June 3 – Yarraman Park consigned the top priced offering during Tuesday’s second session of the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale when stakes-winning mare Shalt Not was knocked down to Marcus Corban of New Zealand on behalf of legendary studmaster Sir Patrick Hogan.
Famous as the dam of brilliant unbeaten juvenile Amelia’s Dream, Shalt Not was offered in foal to Testa Rossa.
"We had the one bid right at the end and were able to get her," Hogan reported.
"Mares like her are rarely up for auction and we are thrilled to be able to get her."
A stakes-winner of four races and over $800,000 in prizemoney, Shalt Not is the dam of three foals to race all winners and her yearling colt by Exceed and Excel fetched $160,000 earlier this year at the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale in Melbourne when secured by renowned judge Mike Moroney.
Shalt Not will remain in Australia and be sent back to the Hunter Valley while Sir Patrick ponders on a suitable partner for her.
"Obviously Redoute’s Choice would be a good option – but I’ve got some stallions as good as him at home," he noted.
