Melbourne, June 6 – Hot on the heels of his third winner, champion racehorse Lonhro posted winner number four when two year-old colt Veewap scored on debut at Geelong on Thursday.
The Lee Freedman trained colt settled back off the pace and finished with a late rush to snatch a narrow victory in the 1100 metre maiden on the all weather track.
Sporting the renowned red, black and white colours of respected syndicator Harry Lawton, Veewap looks to have been an astute purchase for Mr Lawton, snapped up from the draft of Yarraman Park at the 2007 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale for $110,000.
Veewap has an impressive pedigree being a half-brother to Group Two winner So Gorgeous and Group Three winners Wild Queen and Cumbria being from the top class producer Crowning Jewel.
Veewap becomes the fourth winner for Lonhro joining brilliant stakes-winning filly Black Minx, stakes-placed winner Segolene and debut metropolitan winner Huamulan.
