A facile four and a half-length winner when making her career debut at Doomben on November 11, Zelady’s Night Out showed she was the real deal and a leading Magic Millions Classic contender with a commanding victory in the Listed BRC Calaway Gal Stakes (1050m) at Doomben on Saturday. The Tony Gollan-trained daughter of Myboycharlie (IRE) led every step of the way under Jim Byrne to win by two and a quarter lengths, clocking slightly faster time than I Am Invincible colt Sundance. “She’s a very professional filly, she really made light work of it in the end,” Gollan said. “She’s had two goes on soft ground and won them both convincingly It’s a good soft track family, I think she has been aided by this fence today as well as the other day, so we’re realistic at where she’s at. “We will go home and have a chat to the owners and see what we’ll do. We may go four weeks into the Millions, we’ll see how she pulls up.” Consigned by Yarraman Park to the Magic Millions, Zelady’s Night Out was a $65,000 purchase for B2B Bloodstock / Blue Sky Bloodstock. A half-sister to Group III winner Excites Zelady and six other winners, Zelady’s Night Out is the eighth foal of the seven time winning Zeditave mare Zelady, who died earlier this year.
