Sydney, December 23 – Talented Magic Albert mare Fabella cracked the $100,000 barrier in prizemoney when saluting at Canterbury on Wednesday adding an instant update for her full sister who will be offered at Magic Millions in January by Yarraman Park.
A winner at Warwick Farm earlier in the year for Paul Perry, six year-old Fabella belied her long odds to take the 1100 metre Benchmark 70 event over 1100 metres by more than a length.
An $11,000 purchase from the Yarraman Park draft from the 2005 Inglis Scone Yearling Sale, Fabella has won six races and placed 12 times from 39 starts earning $106, 110 in prizemoney.
Fabella is one of five winners from the stakes-placed Seattle Dancer (USA) mare Fabled (NZ), whose best offspring is Group Three AJC Craven Plate winner Lorne Dancer.
The Gai Waterhouse trained Lorne Dancer broke down shortly after winning the Listed Tatts Cup at Randwick in October of 2008, which was his fourth successive win, and has been on the sidelines since, but is set to make his return to racing at Randwick this Saturday.
The Gai Waterhouse website offers the following assessment of his prospects – Lorne Dancer – 5YO gelding and two time black-type winner resuming after long lay-off. He’s got great first-up form but will appreciate the run to bring him to peak fitness. Good each-way chance.
Yarraman Park will offer the current yearling from Fabled, a filly by Magic Albert as Lot 762 at the 2010 Magic Millions Yearling Sale, on eof a crackerjack draft of yearlings for the under-rated sire of horses such as Something Anything, Albert the Fat and Marchinski.
