Melbourne, August 30 – The Lee Freedman trained gelding Here de Angels stamped himself as a potential spring star with a hollow four length victory over 1200 metres at Moonee Valley on Wednesday.

A $90,000 purchase for Slade Bloodstock from the draft of Yarraman Park Stud at the 2005 Magic Millions Yearling Sale, Here de Angels has now won two from two and with some 25 owners involved his connections are obviously delighted.

“Lee has always had a good opinion of him,” said Rob Slade.

“He’s shown a lot of ability and now he’s gone to another level (from the maiden win), so he looks to be going places that’s for sure.”

Here de Angels is by Dehere (USA) from the Kenmare (Fr) mare Angelic Belle, whose dam Gift of Wings is a half-sister to former star mare La Caissiere, the dam of dual Group One winner Dashing Eagle.

“He was bred by Lisa Randle, but we saw him and liked him when he was still on his mother as a foal, so we bought him privately and he was weaned and raised at Yarraman,” said Arthur Mitchell.

Here de Angels is entered for all the major spring races and looks another bright prospect for Slade Bloodstock who enjoyed so much success with champion filly Alinghi.
