Lope de Vega is one of the best sires in Europe and he’s got a good record here in Australia with a three-old filly by the champion stallion scoring an eye-catching win at Sandown on Easter Monday.

Trained by Grahame Begg and ridden by Jordan Childs, Carriedo broke her maiden last start at Geelong and made a smooth transition to metro company.

Stepped up to 1400m for the Benchmark 64 for three year-old fillies, Carriedo chimed in and hit the front with a furlong to run and left her rivals for dead when opening up to win by nearly five lengths.

With two wins and two placings from five starts and four of those runs coming this year, Carriedo is enjoying her racing and making good progress with a further step up in trip looking as though it will suit.

A myriad of Black Type races will be on offer in coming weeks in Adelaide and Brisbane that might offer some potential for Carriedo.

A $280,000 Inglis Easter purchase for her trainer from the Yarraman Park draft, Carriedo runs for a partnership that includes Yarraman Park and her US based breeder Craig Bernick (Glen Hill Farm), who tasted success as an Australian breeder last Saturday.

He also bred brilliant juvenile filly Blue Door (Stay Inside x Notting Hill), who was also foaled, raised and sold by Yarraman Park and came out and won the Group III ATC Kindergarten Stakes at Randwick.

Carriedo is the first winner for unraced blueblood War Front mare Peace Parade (USA), a half-sister to Group II winner Parading from a prolific Black Type family with her third dam the Champion US 2YO Filly My Flag, dam of Champion US 2YO Filly Storm Flag Flying.

My Flag is from the champion racemare and blue hen Personal Ensign, so Carriedo traces back to North American racing royalty.

Peace Parade is now based in Australia and Yarraman Park sold her yearling colt by So You Think last week at Inglis Easter for $200,000 to Bryce Heys and she has a weanling colt by Home Affairs and went to Switzerland last spring.
