Barbaric was not the only two year-old winner for Yarraman Park’s champion sire I Am Invincible on Wednesday with the powerful Ciaron Maher and David Eustace team claiming a Sandown victory with talented colt Holyfield.

A debut winner at Newcastle back on January 25 beating subsequent $2million Inglis Millennium winner Prime Star, Holyfield was favourite for the 1400 metre open juvenile event and despite being headed a furlong from home gave plenty to the line to win by three-quarters of a length.

“He began well from the gates and although the plan was to sit off the stablemate (Flinders River) he led easily and showed a really good will to win,” said winning rider Jye McNeil.

“He had a good blow afterwards so there will be more improvement to come.”

An $800,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Segenhoe draft for Phoenix Thoroughbreds and Aquis, Holyfield came out of the same draft as earlier winner today Barbaric.

He is the third winner from Group I winner Hurtle Myrtle.
