Sydney, March 30 – Ill-fated Golden Slipper winner Catbird produced a new stakes-winner at Randwick on Saturday when the Kris Lees trained mare Litter stormed home to snare her first Black Type success in the Listed AJC Wenona Girl Stakes over 1200 metres.

Ridden quietly by Corey Brown, Litter appreciated a good tempo and pounced on the leaders in the straight to score by the best part of a length over Danasierra and A Country Girl.

A $60,000 purchase for Tony Bott from the Wakefield Stud draft at the 2003 Inglis Weanling Sale, Litter is raced by her trainer Kris Lees and the Bott family’s E Thoroughbreds Pty Ltd.

She has proven a good money-spinner in winning four races and placing ten times earning some $142,000 in prizemoney.

Litter is one of three winners produced by the Chromite mare Alkimiya (USA), who comes from an international Black Type family.

Litter continues a great year for her sadly deceased sire Catbird, becoming his third stakes-winner this season and his 13th overall, the son of Danehill (USA) having sired more than 60 winners since August 1 with progeny earnings approaching $2million.

Catbird has three yearlings catalogued for the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale and a further five for the Inglis Classic.
