Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young have had to be patient with flying I Am Invincible filly Tres Magnifique, who made it three wins on the trot when scoring at Caulfield on Wednesday in slick time.

A brilliant debut winner last September at Ballarat, Tres Magnifique was subsequently tried in a couple of  stakes races after that, but came up short behind the likes of Stardom and Point Barrow.

Sent for a spell over summer and dropped back in grade for her return, Tres Magnifique reeled off wins at Bendigo and Sandown through March and the start of April with Craig Williams on board for both of those wins and engaged again today.

Sent out favourite for the 1000m Benchmark 74 event, Tres Magnifique led for home and gave a good kick before winning by half a length in a brisk 57.14 seconds.

A $400,000 Inglis Premier purchase from Gilgai Farm, Tres Magnifique runs for Kevin and Vikki Payne, who have already enjoyed good success with another high class I Am Invincible filly in Estriella.

That filly became a Group II winner and was sold last year at the Inglis Chairman’s Sale to Tom Magnier for $2.8million and while Tres Magnifique has a way to go to follow in her footsteps, Craig Williams believes she is not short on talent.

“Trent Busuttin, Natalie Young and their team are doing a really good job with her and Kevin Payne’s been patient.. she’s a really good horse,” Williams said.

“She just still needs to learn how to do things correctly. There’s options and there’s nothing better than giving a horse win confidence and experience, because you really can’t afford to be doing things wrong against better horses.

“I have no doubt their patience with her will be repaid in the long term, because she’s got really good ability.”

Bred and sold by Gilgai Farm, Tres Magnifique has won four of seven starts earning over $124,000.

She is one of four winners from five foals to race stakes-placed Teofilo (IRE) mare Holy Cow, who has been retired from stud duties and comes from the family of 2020 European Horse of the Year Ghaiyyath (IRE), now the leading Australian second crop sire.
