Hong Kong, March 18 – This time last year Magic Albert gelding Marchinski was among the best three year-old sprinters in Sydney and 12 months on he has just posted his first win in Hong Kong under the new name of Vital Flyer.

Placed three times since arriving in Hong Kong after being consistent without winning, the CW Chang trained Vital Flyer was able to overcome an awkward barrier to score a neck win in the 1200 metre Class Two sprint at Happy Valley on Wednesday night.

Vital Flyer/Marchinski was bred by his former trainer Tracey Bartley and fetched $125,000 when put through the 2007 Inglis Christmas Thoroughbred Sale at which he was the top priced offering.

Marchinski raced for a big group of owners in Australia, before being sold privately last year to Hong Kong and is a half-brother to stakes-winner Shepishir being from the good producer Elishir, a half-sister to another smart stakes-winner in Spy Zaim.

Yarraman Park will offer the latest yearling from top producer Elishir at the 2010 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale as Lot 537, the colt by Magic Albert being a full brother to Marchinski.

The pedigree also has another update with the current two year-old from Elishir, Marchinella (a full sister to Marchinski) winning at her only two starts for Tracey Bartley since the catalogue went to print.
