South Africa, September 4 – Australian bred three year-old Ibsaar made a good impression in winning easily at his second start at Scottsville in South Africa on Sunday and is the most expensive yearling by his sire ever sold.

Trained by Mike de Kock for Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Shadwell colour bearer strode clear to win the 1950 metre maiden by two and a quarter lengths.

A three year old colt by Keep the Faith from the Peintre Celebre (USA) mare Fete de la Fraise, Ibsaar was a $220,000 purchase for Shadwell from the Yarraman Park draft at the 2010 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale Session II and is the most expensive yearling sired by Swettenham Stud’s brilliant son of Sunday Silence.

Bred by Boxgrove Pastoral, Ibsaar is the second foal and first winner for his dam Fete de la Fraise, who is a daughter of Australian Group I winner Strawberry Fair and half-sister to South African Group II winner Taineberry.

Taineberry has also proved a great success as a broodmare in South Africa leaving Group III winner Jalberry and the dam of Group I winner Solo Traveller.
