Melbourne, July 20 – The juvenile race at Geelong on Tuesday was won in good style by the David Hayes trained Redoute’s Choice colt Almahaab, who is from one of Australia’s best female families.

Having his second start and resuming from a spell of 21 weeks, Almahaab settled just off the pace and powered home to catch the leader Segue, who is a Darley owned half-sister by Ad Valorem (USA) to triple Group I winner and successful sire Viscount

A half-brother to Group I winner Rewaaya, Almahaab was foaled and raised at Yarraman Park for Sheikh Hamdan’s Shadwell Stud and is from the stakes-placed At Talaq (USA) mare Nasmah, who comes from the family of leading sire Snippets and Golden Slipper winner Forensics.

Nasmah is due to foal this spring to Street Cry (IRE).
